Campers and outdoor adventurists know that staying dry and warm can be a challenge, especially when you live in one of the rainiest parts of North America. That’s why, after one-too-many experiences with wet and soggy camping equipment, Pacific Northwest residents Matt and Margaret made it their mission to design a blanket to keep dry and comfortable no matter what mother nature decided to throw at them. 

Quality products and a passionate customer base that was all too eager to spread the news about Mambe Waterproof Blankets by word of mouth led to more than two decades of company success — but Matt and Margaret wanted to make the next two decades even better. That’s why they approached Commerce Garage for support in scaling their business through digital advertising and marketing.

However, the year 2020 posed a new set of challenges to this already successful brand. How do you promote outdoor products when a global pandemic forced millions of people to stay inside? Thanks to a combination of quick-thinking on the part of Mambe, and the agile and responsive work done by the team at Commerce Garage, their strategy quickly changed from producing high-quality, locally made blankets to high-quality, locally made face masks. 

Within the first three months of launch, Commerce Garage helped Mambe increase ROAS 10x, lift overall CPA by 88% and scale Facebook ad spend by 912%. Commerce Garage also helped redesign Mambe’s website, leveraging information on user activity to put the focus on products and categories customers loved most. The new homepage increased average revenue per session by 14% and encouraged the conversion of face mask sales to include their core indoor, outdoor and pet blankets.

But instead of resting on their laurels, Matt and Margaret partnered with Commerce Garage to scale their digital ad spend and help Mambe’s amazing products reach a broader audience. Targeted ads based on the company’s most popular items, and scaling Facebook ad spend by 912%, helped increase ROAS by 10x, and improved overall CPA by 88%.

Google Ads

Keyword research, targetting and optimization helped Mambe’s products reach the right audience at the right times. Commerge Garage knew that pet owners would love blankets that protected their couches from spills and dander, on top of the outdoor enthusiasts that needed a blanket to keep them warm and dry from the elements. The campaigns were setup and optimized to cover the full customer journey on search and across other Google properties, such as Youtube.



With a decent amount of traffic already finding its way onto Mambe’s website, Commerce Garage used data on user activity to optimize the homepage for conversions. Heat maps made it clear which product categories were garnerning the most attention, and which sections of the homepage would be tightened to save on web real estate. As a result of the changes, revenue per session increased by 14% and overall revenue increased dramatically.
